We are Westview.
That’s it. Nothing more. Nothing less.
We are Westview.
We’re not a perfect, pristine church pursuing particular prestige. We’re not the largest church on the block, nor the smallest. We’re not the slickest act on Sunday morning, nor are we bumps on the log. We’re not the embodiment of diversity, but we aren’t cookie-cutter clones.
We are Westview.
We’re a gathering of people God is bringing together to be the hands and feet of Christ in a lost and broken world so loved by God.
We are Westview. Our story is a testimony of God’s faithfulness. And of our desire to respond in faithfulness to God.
We were once a new church start planted amongst the cornfields that crowded the western suburbs of Des Moines. Today, over 20 years later, we’re a thriving, dynamic congregation playing an integral role within our rapidly developing communities.
Our 11 acre lot that sits on the corner of University and Boone Drive was a gift given to us many years ago. Today, we desire to use our facility and grounds as a gift to others. In addition to congregational purposes, the space we steward is used by numerous community and civil entities. Our extension ministry of Westview Church Preschool impacts the lives of several dozen children and families each year through spiritual and academic growth. Waukee Area Christian Services, a partnership of several local congregations, occupies much of our lower level, providing a free food pantry and medical clinic, as well as the community garden that sits on our property.
Situated in an ever-changing, transient culture and community, the expression of our ministry has adapted, but the core distinctive flavor of our primary principles continue to guide us in ministry. Engagement with our local community is of utmost importance. We enact God-glorifying, Christ-centered, Spirit led worship. Authenticity and genuineness in our relationship (‘living life together!’) is a non-negotiable. Utilization of our gifts for the service of others keeps our focus outside our walls. Foundation for everything found in the testimony of the Word (scripture) about the Word (Jesus). And more!
In the course of ministry, there have certainly been mountain-top experiences and difficult valleys to tread. Our story includes a scar, a wrinkle, a detour here and there. And that’s ok. Because we believe our story is nowhere near from complete. Our story is a journey. And we know God is just as interested in the journey as He is in the destination. And today, right now, God has us exactly where He wants us, needs us to be as we boldly and courageously step into the chapter of our story.
God has been faithful. We will continue to be faithful.
For…we are Westview.
